Verengo Solar Launches Zero-Down Home Solar in New York State

TORRANCE, CA and WHITE PLAINS, NY -- (Marketwire) -- 03/26/13 -- Verengo Solar, the nation's leading residential solar installation specialist, today announced it is expanding into New York with the aim of making affordable clean home energy available throughout the state.

"With the NY-Sun Initiative, now is a great time for New Yorkers to go solar and save money," said Peter Olmstead of citizen's advocacy group Vote Solar. "As a nationally recognized solar leader, already serving thousands of customers and supporting hundreds of jobs elsewhere in the country, Verengo's entry to the Empire State is a clear signal that New York is on its way to becoming a solar powerhouse."

This new solar option is due in large part to the work of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the state legislature. The NY SUN Initiative, led by Gov. Cuomo and enacted by the Public Service Commission in April of 2012, initiated a new era of solar development in the state. Last January in his State of the State address, Governor Cuomo solidified New York's commitment to NY SUN, which aims to quadruple the state's customer-sited solar in 2013, offering an up to $5,000 in individual tax credits. This paves the way for Verengo Solar to provide clean energy options broadly across the state.

"New York has become one of the most affordable places in the country for roof top solar," said Ken Button, President and Co-Founder of Verengo Solar. "Verengo hopes to help tens of thousands of New York homeowners take advantage of the generous tax credits recently passed by the legislature so they can save money and avoid costly utility rate hikes in the future."

"By offering ways for our customers to go solar for little to no money down," added Button, "the Verengo team makes clean energy accessible to a wide range of homeowners. All a New York utility customer has to do is make a phone call and we do the rest."

"We're excited to be part of the renewable energy economy in New York," said Verengo CEO and Co-Founder Randy Bishop. "Our New York expansion will bring in hundreds of new local jobs which cannot be outsourced, including positions as installers, engineers, electricians, project managers and salespeople."

Candidates interested in joining Verengo Solar's rapidly expanding team can submit their resume online at www.verengosolar.com/careers.
